Mindfulness: Selective Writing

Your True Home, a book about mindfulness and the stillness of the mind

Chapter 25:  ''Through the practice of deep looking, we can identify the positive seeds that we want to water every day, and train ourselves not to water the negative ones. This is called 'selective watering.' The Buddha recommended methods for doing that, and even a few days of this practice can bring about a transformation.'

The 'selective watering' concept is interesting as I had this notion about friendship. Sometimes the friends that we have can say a great deal about ourselves and I love my CZ friend who said that our friendship with others is often a mirror, through which we see our own reflection.

When we see goodness in others, we see goodness in ourselves.
When we judge the faults of others, we judge the same faults in ourselves.
